It is book one (2016). The later books are the same climb. Do not start with Waybound. Do not start with Threshold.

House rule: read 1–12. Threshold is optional after you want more of the same friends. Wight’s other series (Traveler’s Gate, Elder Empire) are other shelves, not Cradle 0.
Book one is thinner on purpose. That is not a reason to start on Blackflame.
Common mistakes
- Starting mid-series because someone said “it gets good at book three.”
- Treating Threshold as an on-ramp.
- Mixing in Dungeon Crawler Carl as if they share a ranking system.
