Unsouled

It is book one (2016). The later books are the same climb. Do not start with Waybound. Do not start with Threshold.

Twelve novels. A finished Lindon path. Publication order is the only path.

Aftercare

TitleYearNotesAmazon
Threshold2025Story collection. After Waybound. Not book one and not a thirteenth novel in the usual sense.Amazon

House rule: read 1–12. Threshold is optional after you want more of the same friends. Wight’s other series (Traveler’s Gate, Elder Empire) are other shelves, not Cradle 0.

Book one is thinner on purpose. That is not a reason to start on Blackflame.

Common mistakes

  • Starting mid-series because someone said “it gets good at book three.”
  • Treating Threshold as an on-ramp.
  • Mixing in Dungeon Crawler Carl as if they share a ranking system.
  1. Dungeon Crawler Carl (Matt Dinniman) — If you want another progression voice, unfinished and louder.
  2. Mistborn Era 1 (Brandon Sanderson) — If you want a finished magic-system trilogy with a more traditional on-ramp.
  3. Red Rising (Pierce Brown) — If you want a climb that is not a cultivation novel.
  4. [Cradle through Waybound, then stop.] The twelve are a complete visit.
  5. Skyward (Brandon Sanderson) — If you want another finished YA climb, in space.
