Children of Time
It is book one (2015). The two sequels are later generations of the same argument. Do not start with Children of Memory. Do not start with Shards of Earth.
A finished trilogy. Publication order is the only path. The Final Architecture (Shards of Earth and on) is a different Tchaikovsky space opera.

Read them in this order. Book two and three assume you already know what book one did to a planet.
