Publication order for Dennis E. Taylor’s Bobiverse novels from We Are Legion (We Are Bob) through Not Till We Are Lost, and where the announced sixth book sits.

We Are Legion (We Are Bob)
It is book one (2016). The later books are the same experiment after it has already multiplied. Do not start with Heaven’s River because it is thicker.
Bobiverse is one continuous argument: a man becomes many probes, and the many keep talking to each other. Publication order is the only path. There is no chronological prequel hiding in the middle of the list.
The first three novels were written as a complete trip. Books four and five continue the same voices. They are not a new series with a new book one.

The Infinite Extent is announced as a sixth installment (Audible and print listings have pointed at 2026). It is not an on-ramp. Do not wait for it before opening book one, and do not treat a preorder page as book one.
Omnibus editions that collect the first three are still those three novels. If your copy is titled The Bobiverse, check whether you are holding the original trilogy or a later boxed set.
Audio is not a different order
The series found a large audience in audio. Ray Porter’s recordings are the same books in the same sequence. An Audible Original listing for a later volume does not rewind the numbered spine.
There is no official “read the short stories first” path that replaces book one. Side stories, if you meet them, sit after you already know the voice.
Common mistakes
- Starting on book four because a blurb said the original trilogy was finished.
- Treating Heaven’s River as a standalone generation-ship novel.
- Waiting for the next announced volume before meeting Bob.
- Searching only “We Are Bob” and picking up a later hardcover.

Do I have to read them in order?
Yes. The copies remember the earlier books even when you do not.
Can I stop after All These Worlds?
Yes. That is a designed pause. Books four and five are for people who were not done.
Is Not Till We Are Lost 2024 or 2025?
First widely listed publication is 2024; later deluxe printings have appeared after. Same book five.
Is there a prequel?
Not as a first-read door. Start with We Are Legion (We Are Bob).
