Winternight reading order

A finished trilogy. Publication order is the only path.

Arden’s site lists the three and stops. Later novels of hers are other shelves, not Winternight 4.

Read them in this order. Book two and three arrived as sequels, not as interchangeable “Russian folklore” standalones.

Common mistakes

• Starting with The Winter of the Witch because it is the last hardcover.
• Treating The Warm Hands of Ghosts as a Winternight continuation.
• Mixing in a folklore anthology as book 0.

What to read next

1. The Scholomance (Naomi Novik) — If you want another finished trilogy that takes folk rules seriously without turning them into a spreadsheet.
2. Roots of Chaos (Samantha Shannon) — If you want another long dragon-and-court argument with a prequel that should stay a prequel.
3. Earthsea (Ursula K. Le Guin) — If you want an older, shorter wizard path with later books that change the temperature.
4. Narnia (C. S. Lewis) — If you want the other winter door, with a publication-versus-chronology fight.
5. Stop after The Winter of the Witch. The three are a complete visit.

Yes.

Is there a later Winternight novel?
Not on Arden’s trilogy page. The Warm Hands of Ghosts is a different book.
